Follow the celebrated Machame ("Whiskey") Route from rainforest to alpine desert on a six-day Kilimanjaro expedition culminating with a sunrise summit of Uhuru Peak.
The Machame Route is affectionately known as the "Whiskey" route for its bold, scenic approach to Kilimanjaro's summit. This six-day itinerary (with an arrival preparation day) begins in the lush rainforest at Machame Gate, climbs through heather and moorlands to the Shira Plateau, and continues across dramatic alpine deserts to the foot of the Barranco Wall. A climb-high, sleep-low acclimatization strategy at Lava Tower prepares trekkers for the Barranco Wall, Southern Circuit panoramas, and the midnight push to Uhuru Peak. After celebrating on Africa's rooftop, descend through the Mweka Forest to cap an unforgettable mountain adventure.
